DJ-s at Noches de Hungría Tango Marathon 2014coming soon :)DJ-s at Noches de Hungría Tango Marathon 2012 was:
Damián Boggio (Argentina)
Musician and compositor. Since 1999 DJ and organiser of milongas. From 2000 until 2006 he has been DJing at the classic milongas of Buenos Aires, such as Salon Canning, La Nacional, El Beso, Porteño y Bailarin, C.I.T.A. 2002-2003-2004, The night of Carlos Gavito, Plaza Dorrego a.o. In 2006 he started his own Milonga called „Mina Milonga“ in Salon Canning, at 2010, that take place on Tuesdays, with shows by the most famous tango couples and live music by excellent and well-known orchestras. Since 2004 he has been touring Europe’s most important tango festivals as a DJ, and from 2007 on he has even been invited to DJ at festivals and milongas in Asia. He has formed his own tango orchestra, „LA TÌPICA MINA“, with which he has been on tour in Italy in 2009 and 2011. In 2012 he is continuing his tour as a DJ around the tango festivals and milongas of Europe and Asia In the beginning he used for DJing what he had at hand: Vinyl LPs owned by his parents and grandparents, cassettes and a few cds borrowed by friends. From 2002 on he changed to DJing with cds and mp3s only, ending up using ipods as his favourite, a Dj tool with which he had become familiar on tour. But be that as it may, for the reason of pure nostalgia, you met him from time to time playing some old vinyls, just like ten years ago, in Salon Canning ( Buenos Aires - Argentina )
Bachar Bitar (Germany)
Bachar is a musician and tango dancer. He enjoyed tango music before he started to dance. He loves the connection between music and movement and the couple creating dynamic and emotional expression in the dance. When Bachar is DJ’ing he provides tango music that goes very fast from the ears to the heart to the feet.
John Rownan (Ireland)
Tango DJ John Rownan is originally from Dublin but having learnt to dance from his long stays in Argentina, he began teaching and DJing organising his own milongas first in Dublin, then Berlin and then travelling all around Europe and as far as Moscow, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia teaching and DJing. He also organises several Tango festivals and marathons, notably in Dublin and Berlin. John's DJ style is mainly traditional with a nice mix of the classics - lots of Di Sarli, D'Arienzo, Canaro, Fresedo, Donato, Biagi, Troilo, Laurenz, Calo etc, and maybe one or two alternative songs if it's that kind of audience. He keeps the energy high with a nice blend of the 30s, 40s and 50s, in traditional tandas with fun cortinas. You'll hear many of your favourite tangos and probably some interesting versions that you are less familiar with but will equally enjoy dancing to. For some audiences (especially at marathons) John also loves to play some special rarities from 'forgotten' tango orchestras so look out for these!
Mauro Berardi (Italy)
Mauro has been an active tango dancer since 2002. He has been a dj since 2005 and is a resident dj in two of the most important milongas in Rome: Milonga del Barrio and Milonga della Stazione. He has also dj'd at many international festivals and marathons and a popular guest dj in milongas around Europe.
Antónia Nagykáldi (Hungary)
I choose mostly from Golden Age and some of the older (Guardia Vieja) music plus sometimes a few special music of the old times' "alternatives" to refresh dancers. I play a lot from D'Arienzo, Di Sarli, Donato, Rodriguez, Fresedo, Troilo. I aim to present emotions of all kinds that are present in tango and which we came across during our life: childlike joyful freedom, playfulness, force, energy, impish or powerful attraction between man and woman and of course deeper feelings, too. I compile the music to keep up the energy and the appetite to dance continuously, so I play with different feelings and speed and I choose music with dancable rhythm. In Budapest I am a regular DJ of weekly milongas, tango balls and festival milongas such as Danubiando and Danube Tango Meeting since 2008, I am a regular guest DJ at Tangobar Vienna.
Darko Vicentijevic (Serbia)
“I am a DJ, I am what I play. I got believers, believing me.”...– David Bowie - “Playing on a milonga, my job is to make people believe in what they already know - life is Tango and vice versa.” – Dark-OH> Besides DJ-ing on regular milongas in Belgrade, Dark-OH played on prestige Festivals such as Belgrade Tango Encuentro, Istanbul Tango Festival, Stockholm Tango Festival... Noches de Hungria Tango Marathon… La Galeria Ideal in Viena… International milonga in Budapest…
Goran Niksic (Croatia)
Physicist by day and tanguero by night - that means he doesn't get to sleep much. As a physics student, he took a dancing course purely by chance. After a few years of dancing he found out there was more to it: he heard about Argentine tango and was hooked ever since. This is also the moment his 10 years of music school kicked in: he fell in love with the dance and the music. For him, tango means not only to "listen to" the music and dance "to" it, but also to play it along with D'Arienzo, Di Sarli and countless other orchestras. Young inspiring teachers from Zagreb (Zrinko Tajana and Marko Maja) are the reason he never quit this wonderfully frustrating quest for great tango. Also by chance he started working as a DJ at a local practica. He was soon entrusted with DJing "Milonga Sentimental" in Zagreb. This is probably the main reason you are reading this now. After that, a potential international career opened up. So far, you could have seen him play music at the Mediterranean Summer Tango Festival, Zagreb Tango Festival, New Year's Belgrade Tango Marathon, Budapest 24hour milonga, etc. His music collection is new and young but that also means it is constantly and relentlessly expanding. Hopefully, to your enjoyment. You can see him in the corner looking at the floor and carefully selecting the next tanda and (sometimes even more important) the next cortina that will keep the energy flowing and bring people back to the podium ASAP.
Pal Heltai (Hungary)
I started to DJing in 2010. I had an own milonga, was DJ on Danubiando in 2011 and sometimes I play on other milongas in Budapest. I mostly prefer tangos from middle of ’30th to late ’50th. Favorite musicians are D’Arienzo, Biaggi, di Sarli, Fresedo and de Angelis. |
